CAREER SEA PAY


Eligibility and Pay

Active duty enlisted service members or commissioned officers on sea duty are entitled to Career Sea Pay of up to $750 per month. Your actual pay depends on rank and number of years served at sea. The amount is taxed, unless you are serving in a designated tax-free zone.

Once a service member has served 36 months of consecutive sea duty, he/she is entitled to Career Sea Pay Premium for the 37th month and each consecutive month thereafter.

Members of all branches serving on ships or ship-based aviation units are eligible for Career Sea Pay and Sea Pay Premium.

The rates reflect a monthly amount which is added to basic pay and is distributed on the 1st and 15th day of the month. If the 1st or 15th fall on a weekend or national holiday, payment will be made the working day prior.
