Service members who meet certain requirements (particular to each military branch) are entitled to receive Diving Duty Pay. Divers are eligible for this special pay during periods in which they are:
Army members must be a rated divers in accordance with AR 611-75 and be assigned to:
Members of the Navy and Marine Corps must be designated divers, be assigned to diving duty under competent orders, and maintain their qualifications for diving to receive Diving Duty Pay.
In order to be eligible for Diving Duty Pay, members of the Air Force must:
Officer and enlisted service members in the Coast Guard are eligible if they are assigned by orders to diving duty, and are required to maintain proficiency by frequent and regular dives.
The maximum rate payable to officers is $240.00 per month, while the rate payable to enlisted members cannot exceed $340.00 per month.
When members are assigned to diving duty and hazardous duty simultaneously, monthly payments for diving duty are not more than two incentive payments for authorized hazardous duty.
